The Family Historian

This is the reason for our blog! 

We are not the only ones in our McGillivray family that feel called to tell the story of our ancestors. And much of our posts are sharing what others have shared. Our idea is to try to put all the stories, pictures, and family connections in ONE place, a site that can live through generations. 

Our last post was a long story of the life of Eshcol Leroy McGillivray. The response was record-breaking.   Stories like this take a lot of research (3 months :), at least for us!

The research we do includes factual support or additions to the "family story" handed down. We also try to talk to a few close relatives of our biographical subject to get several life stories/memories.  We also research the area, the times, and the lifestyle to give a good perspective of their life.

Tell  us about your ancestors.

If you would like, we can help with research and put together a biography, with stories, of your beloved family member!

Due to the research that we feel is necessary for every post, I usually have about 20 drafts on hand. The research frequently sends me into detours of researching another part of the family tree or searching for something on a ship manifest or in military records. Meanwhile we come up with more story ideas and thoughts. Whew!
