Books About McGillivrays

Books for reading about our McGillivray Clan.

Alexander McGillivray, the last King of Creeks
This book is made available free in  digital format through the webpage of Electric Scotland.com. (The link above takes you straight to the pdf file of the book, in its entirety. It may take a few minutes to load.) The title page shows it was published in 1903, but I couldn't find an author's name. Many books have been published since on this subject , which I haven't yet read, but I found this book to be a fascinating read.

Clan McGillivray by Robert McGillivray
This book was recommended by Patricia MacGillivray in a post on Facebook group Clan McGillivray. Patricia posted "There is more than one branch of the MacGillivray clan. Some of them come from the western islands and the other branch come from near Inverness. There is a book about Clan MacGillivray by Robert McGillivray which gives the history of the various branches. If you want to research your ancestors in Scotland the website scotlandspeople.gov.uk is a reliable source as this is the genealogy site of the scottish records office.”  Try your library to find a copy of this book.

Clan Macgillivray
Website for Clan McGillivray International. A simple click on LINKS (without using dropdown menu) will get you this list of McGillivray information. The entire website is worth reading with information from basic to country-specific groups and the latest news on the plans for a new clan chief.
